    Dahoman is an Oriental line of halfblooded horses established in Babolna (Hungary) by a bay Arabian Dahoman, born 1846. However, he did not prove himself much in Babolna. His descendants were at first moved to Mezöhegyesh and his grandsons to Radovec, where they were bred to the local Arabian mares lines, Siglavi, Tadmor, Shagya and even Gidran. It was actually the Babolna Dahoman III, whose offspring managed to be preserved, however not even in Radovec was this line kept racially pureblooded, like in the case of Shagya, but the Dahomans were often crossbred with the English thoroughbreds (fullbloods) or the English halfbloods of a lighter caliber, not even excluding some of the Furiosos. In Radovec were also used for breeding the Angloarabians, hence the exterior of Dahomans was not as uniformed as in the case of Shagyas.

    All in all, the Dahomans were/are taller and more massive than the Shagyas, and on account of their solid constitution they were considered to be excellent reproducers of the military horses and were used mostly in the formal military stud farms.
